Since our last blog nearly a month ago we have continued in the work settling into an office routine complimented with some opportunity to travel to conduct training sessions. This last week we took the office van to Arad some 520 km from Bucharest. We took two days coming and going with overnight stays in Sibu both times. The drive was long and filled with traffic risk caused by speeding drivers aggressively passing cars on the two lane highways. Much progress has been made in the last few years as old highways are being repaved and improved. But, a proliferation of cars and the trucks entering from Europe make the roads crowded and hazardous. The scenery is beautiful this time of year. We were able to see miles of unfenced fields set against a backdrop of mixed green forests and majestic mountains some of which are still snow covered. We saw Shepards herding their flocks with the little lambs bouncing about. Some herds had been gathered for the spring shearing. In the fields many of the landowners were gathering hay using sickle and rake. Many of the tractors disappeared after Communism and as small plot of land was given back to the people they have had to revert to the old way of hand farming the land using horse and plow to cultivate the land and by gathering and stacking in the fields. It was an interesting sight.
We are thinking of you all. We will miss seeing the family during the wedding but, we will look forward to hearing your report and viewing the many photo's we expect to receive.
Love,
Grandpa Rees
