We've moved into our first Christmas in the mission field. The Holiday season brings with it the need to make special plans as the missionaries anticipate a Christmas away from home. Zone meetings have been planned this month to include some special fun activities, including games, food and skits. The tradition here is to hold a tie and scarf exchange as part of these activities. We will be attending our meeting this next week. Your Mom is preparing potato salad for 25. It should be fun, we'll let you know how it turns out. This evening there was a special local tv broadcast about the church. It featured interview with our mission president and some of the missionares in the Bucharest area. It also showed footage of the Elders proselyting on the street, playing football and in church settings. I think it was positive although it was presented for local Romanians and so we couldn't understand most of the dialogue. The station also gave the Eastern Orthodox church some time to make their own comments on the church. I believe, this and other efforts that are taking place will move the church ahead. I know the Lord is mindful of our efforts and has a desire that the Gospel be made available to the Romanian people.
We are thinking of you all during this Christmas season as we remember the birth, life and atoning sacrifice of the Savior. We are blessed to belong to his church and have the covenants of the gospel to strengthen us in our daily lives.

It sounds like you are finding joy in your journey. The skyline picture is beautiful. Has it snowed there yet? Does it feel like Christmas?
That is great that they are doing features on the church. That are hopefully all good. (Do they not close-caption in English there? :)
We sure love and miss you especially this time of year. Can't wait until you are home for Christmas next year.
Sounds like they have some fun activities planned for the missionaries. I like the tie and scarf exchange...what a fun idea! I'd love to hear how they celebrate Christmas in Romania. We will be in Michigan for Christmas but are going to Utah the end of January to visit. We are spending Christmas Eve with a couple other families from our ward.
By the way, I sent you a little package last week. I understand that they have been getting opened. Hopefully it will get to you okay.(It's nothing too exciting, just some treats for the holidays!) Love you guys and miss you tons!
Merry Christmas! Keep posting the updates - we enjoy hearing of your experiences. Thinking of you always.
